Artist Statement
I believe that the principles of design come from beauty of nature. My work is an expression of what inspires me. From an early age I was called to recreate my inspiration in many artistic mediums, from colored pencil to wire sculpture and eventually I settled on borosilicate glass as my favorite medium. Through layering colored glass on top of itself and carving out the layers with a sandblaster, I am able to recreate the inspiration I find in nature into a permanent and everlasting object.
I've always been drawn to detail and textures. I have a fascination with line and layers that I love adding to my work. Rubbing my fingers over the glass levels gives me a tactile enjoyment as well.
“Surrounding yourself with beautiful objects makes life much more beautiful”
